My Reading Habit and a Quality of a Good Leader

Assalamualaikum and a pleasant day to all.

I'm in my hometown this week and 'struggling hard' to get done with my writings. And to look after my brothers studies as well. And my dad too. Oh yes my mom's undone matters. Okay, the list may continues anyhow. Blimey, it's 20th January today. So soon. How time flies. 20 days into the 'new' 2010. Happy new year to all (and though it's already 4th Safar today, Salam Maal Hijrah to concerned readers).

I have problems dealing with my work when I'm back in my home.
It's not because of my split focus for the family and work (back in Kedah it is friends and work though, so not much different), but because when I'm at home I'm heavily attached to my mini library's collection of reading materials :) love them lots. Thanks to my sister there should always be some new materials to be found on the shelf. I myself would also walk to several nearby favorite bookstores and comic stall to get my favorite reading materials. My Detective Conan series collection is almost complete, with only volume 62 and 63 'missing'. I found Huckleberry Finn (hope I spelt it correctly), the Adventure of Sherlock Holmes and the 21 Indispensable Qualities of A Leader on the shelf when I arrived home last Friday. Though I've read some of the mentioned titles before, I just can't stop going through them all. And to make things worst, I've just bought Solusi No 15 last two days.

Some of my reading materials are, well, just my reading materials. Like my Detective Conan, I just read it for the sake of reading. Some are to be thought of, like Solusi (I have from No 13 onwards) and 21 Indispensable Qualities. Some are to be reread, and some (actually most of them) are to be left forever on the shelf (thanks sis, you did a great job with rearranging the books-had to walk up and down the stairs to look for some of them-but seriously thanks for the nice house chores done).

I wish to share a point from what I read in Solusi (am still reading it actually). I have this habit of reading serious reading materials especially magazine beginning from the last page forward. I love the short stories written in the few last pages. No 15 had this one good story telling of how a reporter was assigned to have dinner with two PM candidates and wrote about who should be elected. It was an eye opener to me to note that a good leader is actually not the one who is capable and smart, but actually a good leader is the one who can make people around him to feel capable and smart. So in short, a leader should inspire the followers with inspiration, not aspire them with aspirations. Reminiscence of someone? Why don't we take a good thought of it? May we all benefit from that.

Wassalam.
